Although Scottie Sandstrom’s vocation was in management and sales, his passion and avocation has been in music. He was in a country-rock band in the early ‘70s and later on, in a Ventures tribute band called “The Decades”.

His first recording was a song he wrote about Mount Rushmore after visiting there in the late ‘70s. He returned to sing the song at the monument’s 50th anniversary in 1991. His original songs are based primarily upon scripture, leading him to craft songs that speak to life experiences.

All of Sandstrom’s four siblings were musically inclined, and one of his brothers, Dean, (a band and choir director for 30 years), encouraged him in his music interests.

Sandstrom’s most influential artist was Glen Campbell. He and his wife Cheryl had the distinct privilege of bringing Glen and his wife Kim (as well as Glen’s band) to the Big Top Chautauqua in Bayfield, WI for Glen’s Farewell Tour in June 2012. This was the occasion when he met TJ Kuenster (Glen’s music director for 30+ years), who afterward, arranged the instrumentation for Scottie’s signature song “A Season of Thankfulness”.

Sandstrom holds a BS in Communications, and a Minor in Radio-TV-Film from the University of Wisconsin - Superior. He lives near Lake Superior with his wife Cheryl.
